General
How does the ACP Work?
The ACP is an Electrolytic Scale Inhibitor (ESI). These devices add a minute quantity of Zinc to the water stream. Zinc is unique because when present in water it reduces the formation of CALCITE scale. The majority of scale formed is ARAGONITE which is light, fluffy and non-adhering. The majority of the formed ARAGONITE remains in solution and washes harmlessly through the system. ESI are considered the best water conditioners on the market.
How long does its last?
Effect will exceed 48 hours.
How quickly does it start working?
After correct installation (ensure correct flow orientation and earthing) the ACP begins to work instantly.
Will it remove all traces of limescale?
No water conditioner will. It will however provide the best performance of all the water conditioning systems. Any residue seen its likely to be ARAGONITE and is easily wiped away.
What guarantees are there?
We offer an no-quibble money-back guarantee for 12 months assuming you return the item clean and undamaged. In addition the ACP carries a 10 year warranty.
Installation and Technical Information
What size ACP do I need?
The ACP units are sized to match the incoming water mains. For most domestic properties this will be either a ½” (15mm) pipe or a ¾” (22mm) pipe. Hence these sizes correspond to the ACP 15 and ACP 20 units.
Where should it be installed?
Ideally at or near the start of the main water inlet into the building.
How difficult is it to install?
For domestic applications a qualified plumber or competent DIY-er should easily be able to install an ACP in under an hour. The process involves cutting an appropriate length of pipework, inserting the ACP with the correct fittings to ensure no leaks and importantly, earthing the unit correctly.
Do I need to earth the body even with plastic pipes?
Yes, under all circumstances the ACP body needs to be earthed. This is essential to dissipate the small electric charge generated during the process. Without earthing the unit will not function and the warranty will be null and void.
Does it have to be horizontal or vertical?
As long as it is fitted in the correct directional flow of the water the ACP can be positioned at any angle. However once the unit contains water it must remain full of water throughout service.
Does it effect my water pressure or flow?
All ACPs show a pressure drop of less than 0.1 bar which will not be noticeable.
Can you recommend a plumber?
Any qualified plumber should be able to fit an ACP.
Safety and Water Quality
Is conditioned water safe to drink, safe to use in pools and ponds and safe for pets??
Yes, completely and is fully approved by WRAS, the Water Regulatory Advisory Service.
NOTE: Water treated by the ACP should not be used for Koi Carp.
Does it change the taste of the water?
No. The ACP takes nothing away from the water so it retains all the benefits of the mineral content.
Does it change the water chemistry?
In essence no. The ACP adds a minute quantity of Zinc, in the order of parts per billion which is undetectable to human taste, smell or feel.
Will my water feel ‘softer’ or ‘gentler’?
Although some conditioners claim to improved water softness we believe there is no scientific evidence that the ACP or any equivalent equipment will soften water.
Environment and Sustainability
Does installing an ACP impact the environment?
No, unlike the adverse environmental impact of a traditional water softener.
Does it need power, maintenance or added chemicals?
No, it is truly Fit & Forget and will last 10 years.
Will it reduce my heating costs?
It is estimated 1mm of limescale in pipework adds 12% to the cost of heating. While we can’t give a blanket cost saving achieved by the ACP its estimated that an ACP fitted on a new building will pay back in less than 18 months on fuel costs alone.
What do I do with it after 10 years?
Please contact us to buy another ACP. We can offer an attractive discount to customers who return spent ACP units as these can be fully refurbished, benefitting the customer and the environment.
